Play group Christmas Party

We belong to a neighborhood playgroup that was originally to get the 3 year olds out and socialize with other kids their age as well as give the moms a break. It evolved into a playgroup for the 3 year olds and their older 5/6 year old siblings because it isn't much of a break when you are entertaining the older kids. I LOVE it! I still have Maren to entertain but it is so much easier to have one kid instead of three for certain activities like run errands. Anyhow, when we started this playgroup we had a lot of interested mothers so we split the group into two. One group with four 3/2 year olds and four of their 5 year old siblings (so 8 kids!) and another group with two 3-year olds who didn't have older siblings at home. We all combined for our Christmas party and it was so much fun although super crazy with 12 kids and 6 moms.

Debbie Bagley did a music activity where they sang and danced to children's Christmas songs and then they "ice skated" to some Christmas music. It was super cute. They also made jingle bell bracelets for the Jingle Bell song.

I was in charge of the craft. It was a bomb. Oh well! I had supplies to make jingle bell bracelets (which we just made for the music portion! Didn't collaborate on that one.) and they were very cute with ribbons, but ended up being difficult for the kids to make, especially the younger ones. Oh well! I felt kind of stupid though.

Heather brought a fun treat called a Tim Tam Slam where you take hot chocolate, some chocolate caramel Tim Tams (a popular cookie in Australia) and some guts.
You bite off one corner and then the other corner at the opposite side of the cookie. Use it as a straw to sip some hot chocolate and then slam it in your mouth causing warm, chocolate yumminess to fill your mouth. It is messy so it is fun to watch.

It was a fun day and I'm glad to have friends and neighbors that are so wonderful! Hopefully some of them will want to do a preschool co-op with me next year. :)

  1. Where do you get the tim tams? Yummy! I will have to try out the "ice skates" with my kids, what a good idea.
