I won the lottery!

Even though I didn't win a million bucks, Koby and I won the lottery. I am kinda still in shock and I think I must have lost more of my mind after this last pregnancy than I thought. We got into the St. George Marathon! I can't believe it. I know, I am absolutely insane to have thought about it. Me, run? I am not a runner. Koby has wanted to run a marathon for quite some time and he has already done a 1/2 marathon. I have really enjoyed running but the furthest I have gone is 4.5 miles. Not even close to 26.2 miles. Here are the reasons why I have decided to torture myself:

* I want to push myself and give myself a goal that I have previously thought unattainable by me.
* To get into shape- whatever that shape may be.
* To participate in training and the race with Koby.
* To love running- I like it right now.
* Everyone is doing it.
* To wear comfy clothes all the time.
* Get rid of my baby weight? Please?
* Be able to eat lots of my favorite foods and not feel guilty.
* The runner's high.
* I may not have another chance to run a marathon. I may either be pregnant, too busy, or too old.
* I feel like it is something I need to do.
* Because it is all about ME. I think it will be a good self discovery journey.
* I don't want to waste the $65 it cost to enter.

I may add or delete some of these reasons as time goes on. In order to help me pumped and psyched for the big event, I also signed us up for two more races. :)

Freedom Run 10K- July 4th
Hobble Creek 1/2 Marathon- August 23

Some of you have asked how I exercise with kids. I have been taking the kids in our double jogging stroller when I run on Mon. and Wed. (and I try for either Fri. or Sat.), I take them to Yoga on Tuesdays which is held at the church house with babysitting. I have also taken the kids to Jump Aerobics on Thursdays which also has free babysitting. All of this has been somewhat difficult with the crazy winter weather in spring, more sicknesses than usual, and classes being canceled. I just have to take it week by week and rearrange a lot. I am going to have to rearrange again with hot summer weather coming (I am going to have to either run late evening or early morning so it isn't so hot- kinda hard with a baby who still is figuring out her sleeping schedule!), Jump Aerobics is will be ending end of May with school getting out, and I am going to have to step it up big time with the running.

I'm excited to take on this goal! Heck, if this guy can do it, so can I!!!

    I am so impressed!!! Post a training schedule if you have/get one. I'd love to see what it takes. I might do that someday... maybe.

  2. Wow! I am so proud of you. What a way to be. I must say...What Baby fat? You are a twig! You look great and I am way impressed.

    Wow! 101 years old! I can't believe he smokes and drinks then runs. How is he still alive. I guess that just goes to show you that it is all in the Lord's hands.

  3. Dang! I'm jealous that you are so ambitious, but not jealous that you have to run over 26 miles.

    Good luck! It's something I've always wanted to do too. Hopefully some day....

    You'll kick trash!

  4. All your reasons are great ones. I especially love the "It's for ME" one, because I totally vibe with that. I used to try to take Wes to aerobics classes, but if he woke up and started to cry, guess what? I couldn't work out. The hour was never mine. Running is nicer in this way. The kids are stuck in the stroller and you can just run your heart out. I have come to think of my running time as ME time. And it is so important.
