Uh....

That is what my brain is saying right now. I realize it has been awhile since I posted anything, but there really isn't much to post about. Nothing new and exciting going on. Nothing even mundane enough to make something exciting to write about. I will have to just give you some small, boring updates.

* Despite my somewhat negative recent post on running (such as hitting a wall and having some really bad runs), I have had some really good runs lately and am getting my groove back. Hallelujah! I had an AWESOME run on Saturday- we ran 10 miles on the Provo River Trail. We did the section that goes to Utah lake and back. It was new scenery (a huge benefit for me) and very shaded. I had never been to that part of the trail and it was so fun. I took a few water breaks but other than that, I ran the whole way. A huge confidence boost.

* I am really looking forward to the 4th of July celebrations. Then I won't have such a mundane life. We don't even have many plans, but there is sure to be fun, family and food. My 3 favorite f-words!

* Can I say it again, I am SO happy Brigg is potty trained! Wahoo!! He even goes through the night without diapers. Thank goodness the diapers that are sitting unused in his closet are the cheapo Walmart ones and not expensive(r) Costco mega-huge billion diaper packs.

* And can I say it again and again! Kallie is currently a champion night sleeper. FINALLY. Now if only I could get her to eat. She has no problem drinking mommy's milk, but she only likes pears and prunes and some veggies. No applesauce, no bananas, no peas, no berries (she is allergic), no cereal. She is almost 7 months too.

* We got our crown moulding up!

* July and August are going to be busy vacation/ family reunion months. Yay!

* Koby and I are running the Freedom Run 10K on the 4th of July. It is a good way to get him to go to the parade. Hee hee.

*Uhh..... my brain again. How come I am having a hard time remembering things recently? I keep forgetting words and names and such. I even started taking an omega 3 and 6 supplement to help my memory. Hmmm...

*Here is a question for all y'all who have read The Kite Runner. Do you think it is appropriate for a church book group with people mostly over the age of 30? Ok, so all over the age of 30 (except me) and most in their 40-60's. I suggested the book before I read it because lots of people recommended it. I really liked the book. It has an icky part in it (child abuse) and I was surprised it had as much swearing in it that it did, but none of this bothered me too much. I guess I am a little hardened to the child abuse thing. I hate reading about it and such, but I am used to hearing about stuff like that since my social work training/ degree. Anyhow, I took the books to church and only one person asked for a copy of the book. I offered it to another lady and she refused it saying she had already started it and couldn't read it. I'm worried that I suggested a book that people may not want to read. I thought about suggesting a different book but it may be too late. What do you think?? Is it suitable for a church book group?? I think it could generate a good discussion.

* Thats all I can think of right now. Hopefully I will have more to blog about next time! I'll leave you with a few pictures.

Don't ask- he ain't my kid

It's his kid (This is Koby wheeling in our back yard- he's desperate)

Cousins (can you tell?)

  1. I could've sworn you had one more favorite "f" word... hahahahaha. Just kidding. :)

I'm very impressed. It sounds like your life is busy and happy and in a good groove. Don't knock it... routines, while seemingly boring, are soooo underrated. :)

  2. Maybe I'll see you at the 10K tomorrow. Too bad I am so out of shape right now. I hope I can finish 6.2 miles. :)

I would say The Kite Runner is not appropriate for church. I do think it would generate some good discussion. I really appreciated the opportunity to learn so much about the culture. It was a very eye opening book for me. I just know that my mom would be very offended and there are a lot of people at church like her. I would still recommend it, but I would caution people about the abuse and language, and probably wouldn't read it for a church book group.

    Happy Running! :)

  3. Liz- so true about routines. I am very glad I don't have bad things happening in my life that make life less mundane.

Amanda- Your "out of shape" running will leave me in the dust. :) I hope will get to see your dust at the race! Thanks for your opinion on the book... I was afraid of that. I am the book group leader and someone suggested the book (and I had heard others say it was good) so I put in on the schedule to read before I actually read it. Bad idea and I hope to not make the mistake again. We have some pretty open people in our group but also some very conservative ladies. I did warn everyone about the book before though...

  4. Hey my friend had a hard time with getting her baby to eat certain foods, and it turned out that she had som weird thing where she couldn't eat things with seeds in them? like peas are seeds and berries almost always have seeds in them, grains are seeds, bananas have those tiny seeds, even some apple sauce they grind the seeds up in. i don't know anything about her symptoms or anything, but that just came to mind. that picture with Kallie and her cousin is soo cute! they look almost identical, of course Kallie is a bit cuter! : ) anyway good luck with all that running! did i invite you to that play group on July 16? it's at 10:30 and we are playing in the water, if you want to come, just call me or email and i'll tell you where and stuff, i might make it, baby keeps threatening to come but i've lost hope since tuesday and i think i'm probly just going to have to wait till the 17th and be induced. ok sorry for rambleing on. have a great 4th and long weekend!

  5. The Kite Runner is a tough book for many readers. I was book leader in my ward once and it was tough to choose books that everyone would like. I had to stick with pretty safe books. It was a huge change because though because that book group had only previously been allowed to read church books as a group.
