Then in February, after I had Kallie, I finally got around to painting. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. (I just took these pictures so it gave me an excuse to tidy up a bit. Notice to potty seat under the toilet seat. I am happy to report Brigg uses it very well and we rarely have accidents! Yay!)
For the past several weeks we have been working on one of the bedrooms that we turned into an office. It has been a work in progress for 1 1/2 years. Sad, but true, that it took that long. Here are a few pictures.
I didn't take pictures of how the room looked when we bought the house. It had a creamy tan color with lighthouse wallpaper border at the top. The wallpaper was coming off in some spots and the walls needed some good paint.
In December of 2006 I decided I wanted a red room. I figured a completely red room would be too overwhelming so I bought bead board. I painted the top part of the room. This is what it looked like afterwards......until June of 2008. (I painted love messages to Koby and Brigg (he he, I don't have to use code words since the blog is private now) and put the date on the wall thinking I would have bead board covering it in the next few months.)
I took these pictures right before putting the bead board up just this last month. That is why the furniture is in the middle of the room.
This is what is looks like today!!
My brother put up all the molding and I did all the painting. Koby helped do a lot too (but he was more than happy to hire my brother to do most the work. One less thing he needed to do). I still need to put up decorations, get curtains, and patch just a few more things. We also have crown molding sitting in the garage, painted and ready to be put up. That will hopefully be put up soon. We love the room! It makes our office furniture look even shabbier. Oh well.
Both rooms look great! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteit all looks really nice! I love the red! i wanted to paint our kitchen red, but i' also afraid it would be too much!
ReplyDeleteI love them! They look fantastic!
ReplyDeletecan you come paint and decorate my house?
ReplyDeleteIt made me think of our big remodeling days! Everything taking forever, then tada! A beautiful room!
ReplyDeleteThose rooms look sensational. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThe bathroom and office look really nice. I'd love to do a room with bead board--I just really like the way it looks. Was it very difficult or expensive? I also love the look of molding--if I had my way I'd have awesome molding all over the place! Since your blog is private now, where is your house (not an address or anything, but just an idea) you guys are in Utah, right? Utah Valley?
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the comments everyone!
ReplyDeleteKatie, to answer your questions-
I can't remember exact costs but I think the beadboard cost around $100 total. Maybe a little less. I bought the 8 foot sheets and cute them in half. I'd love to do Kallie's room with it going up 6 ft. tall and paint the top of it and put up some picture rail with pegs.... but I'd have to hire someone again. Koby hates doing that kind of stuff. I don't think it is all that hard though, I just don't know how to cut the moulding.
The chair rail was around $13 for a 12' length and the base board $1.50 a foot.
We live in Lindon, ha ha. I never thought we would move here but we got lucky and found a great house for a good price. We live within easy walking distance to both Koby and my parents' houses. It is great! If you are ever in the area you should stop by!
I love your rooms! They are lookin' good.
ReplyDeleteif you need help cutting moulding Eric can do it for you. he has all the tools and has made me some fabulous things. so give him a call.
ReplyDeleteI love the finished rooms. :-)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy painting the house, much to my husband's chagrine. (hee hee)
I really like the 'red' room. The split colors is just the perfect touch.
Good job!
