Brigg is obsessed with volcanoes. He was playing on discoverykids.com on the Internet and found a volcano learning game. Ever since then, he has been obsessed. In order to be a good mommy, I helped fuel his obsession by checking out some books from the library on volcanoes. I think he chose 10. :) We came home and I read some of the books straight through with him for a solid 1 1/2 hours. He wanted more but I figured it was way past nap time. I couldn't believe his attention span! Since then he has had his dad read books, he has talked his grandpa into reading the books with him, and he constantly asks me to read more to him multiple times a day. He looks at the pictures every day before nap. He talks about them constantly. I decided to change one of our preschool days to a Volcano/ Earthquake day where we can make a volcano, etc. I hope the other preschool kids enjoy it too.
I think this is a great excuse to take a trip to Hawaii? We need first hand experience with volcanoes and volcanic rock. I'm sure we could visit some closer volcanoes, but we'll pretend Hawaii is the only place to go. On this same topic, the other night Koby promised me that whenever we get some extra money, he is taking me to Hawaii. Wahoo! I'm not forgetting this promise. :)
Any of you know any great movies (educational) or other things to do that would be fun to learn about volcanoes? I'm totally fine encouraging any learning behavior in Brigg.
