Doing My Civic Duty

I called the police today. I figured it was my civic duty. You never know what can happen and I figured 'better safe than sorry'.

Yesterday I was outside with Kanoba. He was practicing riding his bike around our cul-de-sac. (He had tried to ride it by himself the other day. Good for him, I'd say, except that happened to be down our driveway which has a steep grade. He made it to the end of the driveway. I found a crying boy with a bump on his head, a wrecked bike, and a broken horn. He was very upset about the horn.) Anyhow, back to my story. We were practicing his bike riding skills. I looked down to the begining of the cul-de-sac and saw a purple-ish car stop quickly and the guy stared at us a for bit. I thought it was odd, but brushed it off. He left.

Today I was driving up the street and that same car was at the top of our circle. As I came up the street, the guy drove down the street. I gave him a 'look' that said I saw him. I took note of the car and a bit of him, but didn't get a chance to get the license #. I thought it was odd since it was the next day and that we live on a circle. Not many people come up here unless they are lost. If he was lost, he'd been lost for a long time. I mentioned this all to Koby and he said I should probably report it to the police just in case something else gets reported. We have had a rash of break-ins around here. I called the police and told them my story. They told me that since he was gone, there wasn't much to do but that if I see him again, call them immediately.

An hour later I left to go to the movies with Kanoba. That same car was parked on the side of the road a few roads down. The man was just sitting in his car. I noted the license plate number and called the police. The same man asked me the license plate number . After I gave it to him, he said... "Oh yeah, he just radioed in. He is on the serious crimes unit and is patrolling the area. So you are good." Oh..... OK. Well, I did my duty. I am protecting the neighborhoods. From undercover agents. Don't worry, I got you covered. So should I be glad he wasn't a werido? Or worried about why we have an undercover agent from the serious crimes unit? How serious does the crime have to be? And why in our area? Hmmmm, I have some sleuthing to do.
