Marriage Retreat at Aspen Lakes
Our Stake sponsers a marriage retreat every year up at Aspen Lakes. We have never gone but we decided to go this year. Makayla, our niece, was so kind to say yes to babysitting overnight. We got out kind of late and so we didn't make it up to Aspen Lakes until it was getting dark. We decided to forget setting up a tent and take up the bishop's (now stake 2nd counselor) offer to stay at his cabin nearby. We had a fun time learning a few dances (Koby danced with me!) and eating food from the chocolate fountain. It was also fun to talk to ward members, my basketball lady friends and Mindy and Andy. Mindy and Andy just moved back from Hobbs, NM and are staying with Mindy's parents for awhile, which means she is in my ward! We had a nice, warm night in the cabin and headed back to Aspen Lakes for Sat. morning. We heard some great talks, one by our new stake president, Pres. Corbridge, and walked through a replica of Solomon's temple. It was pretty neat. Aspen Lakes itself is so peaceful and holy. We took a walk as couples and talked about a few assigned topics, reconnected and had fun remembering fond memories. On the way home we stopped off at The Train and got some yummy food and shakes.
