Adult canyoneering trip to Zions

We were SO lucky to go to Zions for a weekend canyoneering trip. My parents and Koby's parents were so nice to agree to watching the kids. We had originally thought about taking the kids and finding a babysitter down there but this was SO much easier, for us at least. Devin and Kira and my littlest brother Landon came. We met Koby's brother down south where he lives. We headed down on a Friday and stopped near Escalante to do a smaller canyon. It was pretty but I admit, I HATED the hike to get to the top. We took the "shorter" roundabout that led straight up the mountain, up a rock slide where the huge boulders were sliding out from under your feet (and hopefully not on top of the people below you) and around cliffs. I thought I might die. I'd rather rappel a 300 ft. cliff. I don't like the slippery off a cliff stuff.

 Climbing up the mountain

Pretty stream

We got up to the top and rappelled 3 descents. The first one was a 100 ft. and most of the descents were in the waterfall from the stream.

Saturday we got up and went and did Birch Hollow. One of my favorite (although I love Pine Creek too). It was a nice mix of hiking, nature and trees, and lot of fun rappels. Least favorite part- sliding down the side of the mountain on loose dirt to get to the bottom. I don't like those parts.

View of Zions park. You can see the canyons!

Tree Pose!

I did some yogic breathing before the 120 ft rappel. :)

I'd rather rappel than downclimb.

You should always wear your helmet.

After the trip, we bought the best shaved ice I have ever had. We had a delicious BBQ at Chris and Joy's house and we slept like the dead that night. We cleaned up Sunday and headed home. It was one of my favorite trips ever.
