So........ I have been wanting to post about this forever. Some of you might know that I LOVE Jane Austen. I love her books and I love movies about her books. Emma is one of my favorite and of course Pride and Prejudice (both the books and movies). Masterpiece Theater is showing all 6 books on PBS starting January 13th for the first time in the U.S.! Check out the movies- I have already seen 4 of them and they are AWESOME. I finally just saw Masterpiece Theater's Jane Eyre and I loved it. Just to get you a little excited, here are some previews. The first is the actual preview, the second is the a preview to the extended music that is absolutely beautiful, and the third is just for fun. Warning, you may have Jane Austen movie overload.
Yummy!! I, too, cannot wait! I always enjoy a good Austen rendition. (good, being the operative word...)
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to the season. Thanks for these clips! :)
Great...now that I don't have TV and all.... (Dang!)
ReplyDeleteOh thank you thank you for posting this, because otherwise I wouldn't have known about it. Last night I tuned in for the last part of Persuasion, which I'd only seen the BBC version of before. I thought this version was a little more hokey in its music and camera shots, but oh, when Ann runs back to find Captain Wentworth and he KISSES her--it was pure cathartic bliss. John was watching with me and rolled his eyes when I swooned, but isn't that the whole point of Jane Austen? You watch or read the whole thing just to see the guy and girl get together at the end, and suddenly you're in heaven and wish he was your boyfriend, too, even if you're married and he doesn't really exist.
ReplyDeleteSo, anyway, thanks for passing this on!
