I had a blast yesterday. It is so fun to be married to an awesome husband who works with awesome people who have awesome work parties. Yesterday was the holiday work party. Yes, not in December but in January. This is great because there aren't fights with other businesses to reserve such-and-such place or book a particular location. Also, I don't have to decide which Christmas party (out of the 23 I've been invited to) deserve my presence. Ok, so I wasn't invited to more than 2 Christmas parties this year and both were church related. I wouldn't have gone to many more anyway with a newborn.
So, what did Koby's work plan? The same thing as last year- skiing and gorging ourselves on delectable food at Sundance! My amazing, awesome, wonderful family, consisting of a squad of 5 babysitters throughout the day, took care of my two offspring's needs while I expertly maneuvered down the snow covered Rockies. It was wonderful! I didn't fall once and I improved my snow plowing stance. Now on to the food. After I picked up the little princess from home I went back up the mountain to partake in the food and socializing/ cat fighting. I was the first one at the reserved room and the waiter told me to help myself to the hor'douvres. I did that quite well. There was an array of fine chesses and crackers. For dinner we had many wonderful things that I can't list because I will salivate all over my clothes. That would be bad because my whole closet is in the wash because there is either spit up or poop all over them. We also had chocolate decadence cake and pumpkin cheesecake with maple infused whip cream. Yes, that was the description and yes, I had both. Which, by the way, have I told you I like birthing a baby around the holiday season? I could gorge myself at Thanksgiving because I already look fat and then I can eat all I want during Christmas/ New Years because I look great- I just lost a ton of weight having a baby! No one knows the real damage- yes, I have plenty of weight to lose as one of my New Year's resolutions.
Well after all that to-die-for food, we played games. This is where the "fighting" began. I won't describe all the games but one in particular was a blast. It was White Elephant gift exchange on steroids. We all started with a gift that was provided for us by "the company". We all opened our gifts and showed them to the rest of the people in the circle. Three dice were given to three people in the circle. The person rolled the dice and passed it on to the next person. If a 1 or 6 was rolled, that person traded their gift with someone else around the circle. There was 10 minutes before time was up and you were stuck with the gift you had. It was pretty hilarious watching everyone run around the circle grabbing gifts out of another person's hands and giving them the not so popular Shaggy Chia pet. There were some fun gifts that I wanted but were too popular and taken from me within seconds. I wanted the CamelBak and the Apples to Apples game. There were 2 mystery bags containing either a $10 Walmart gift card or a $100 Visa gift card. Those were sought after too. Luck had it that with 6 seconds to go I rolled a 1 and snatched one of the mystery bags from an unfortunate person. Now I have to decide what to spend my $100 on. Too many options. I want clothes, this, or this. I have a birthday coming up though so I can probably get one of these from Koby. So that was my Friday. I got to enjoy conversations with adults and good entertainment. Now I am back to being neck deep in dirty diapers, dirty laundry, and taking care of a sick 4 week old baby.
That's awesome that you got the cool mystery bag. What a fun work party.
