I have been debating what to do with Brigg next year. There is a local preschool out of a lady's home just around the corner from us. Her reputation is an excellent one, hence the reason why they were filled more than a half a year ago, for this next coming year. I put Brigg on the waiting list in November but it is highly unlikely he will get in. I was actually counting on Brigg going to that school but now I am faced with what to do for preschool.
I have thought about, and was very seriously considering teaching him at home and doing playdates and lots of activities in order to get his social interaction. Then I got pregnant. I'm wasn't so keen on the idea of having 3 kids at home, one being a newborn, and teaching him and making sure he got the social interaction he would crave. I would probably crave a little of the "free time" with only 2 kids to take my attention. I also didn't want to spend a ton of money for preschool.
I signed Brigg up for preschool yesterday and what an experience it was! I found a preschool that is located at PG recreational center. I have heard nothing but positive things about it. It is 3 days a week for 2 1/2 hours... and guess what? It is only $80 a month! It seems like a lot going from free, to paying for preschool, but it is by far the cheapest preschool around that I have heard about.
Yesterday we were supposed to get wrist bands at 9AM in order to register that night at 6PM. I went 20 minutes early to check the place out but when I got there, people were already lined up around the gym to get the wrist bands. The first groups were camped out in warm clothing, with food and chairs. I had no idea preschool registration was that intensive, at least around these parts. I have heard of preschools in the big cities having years of waiting lists and mother's signing up their child years in advance, but this is Utah valley! Anyhow, I got my wrist band, came back that night, and was one of the last people on the list for morning pre-k preschool. Whew! Brigg came with me that night and was able to see his cute classroom. He is very excited, especially since it looks like a regular school classroom. He has been so excited to go to the big kid (elementary) school and this was one step closer to that. He kept asking if he could go to school today.
It is fun going through childhood with your own kids. I'm so excited to learn and experience many more things with him.
I recently signed Connor up for preschool and I'm stressing about it. I wanted to do a joy school, but EVERYBODY around here just sends their kids to the ND preschool because it's "cheap" (still $130/month!), so nobody is available to do it with me. Ugh. $130/month for 3 days/week?! I dunno. I would totally do it for $80, though!
ReplyDeleteI totally hear you on the preschool issue! When it was time for Max to go to preschool, everything filled up so quick. And prices had soared since my older two were in in preschool. I found one that was just OK for $75 a month.
ReplyDelete(Caution: Max has brought home a TON of sicknesses from preschool. He's gotten strep every 2-3 months this year. UGH. Hopefully Brigg won't get sick...)
Wow, that is a great deal! I hate the signing up in advance thing, it's so stressful.
