Party Time and a HUGE "Doh" moment

Monday my little boy turned a whoppin 4 years old! Brigg had been looking forward to his birthday for months. We had a "Madagascar" the movie themed party with animal hats, feed Gloria the Hippo bean bag toss, pin the tail on Alex the Lion, musical chairs to "I like to move it", a small craft, hot dogs and chips, and cupcakes! The kids mostly just wanted to play together. I invited 5 of Brigg's friends- his age plus one. I figured that was a good sized group. One of his friends was sick so he didn't come but one of the brothers of Brigg's friends stayed for the party.

Later that day we went to the library to pick up some books I had reserved for the book group. While we were there, Brigg picked out a ton of volcano books, spider books, a book about squids and a few on pets. The spider books, especially the black widow book, kinda creep me out. I think that was his best present- all the books! I asked him what he wanted for his birthday dinner- pizza, burritos... he asked for a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. What? I kept suggesting other things, but that was what he wanted! He also wanted the leftover green smoothie in the fridge and some pineapple. I didn't complain after all the other junk he ate all day!

My parents stopped by to give Brigg a present and we sang Happy Birthday again over some vanilla ice cream. It was nice to do something that his daddy could participate in too.

Now for my huge "Doh" moment. I'll blame in on the mommy/ prego brain. I totally forgot about his presents from mom and dad until today, 2 days later!! I had them all wrapped and waiting in my closet. Thank goodness Brigg didn't even care and was excited to open them this morning. Whew! I'm sure he won't let me forget something like that in the future- when he is old enough to really care.

It took Brigg a good 20 seconds to get all the candles out. I saw a lot of spit though!
